Abstract Currently pedestrian detection is being applied in various fields. The need for accurate
and fast pedestrian detection technology was emerging in these circumstances which led to the
research and development of many pedestrian detection technology. Of these methods, there is a
Haar-like cascade, HOG SVM, Cascade HOG and so on. Haar-like cascade is faster, but this was
not good detection rate. HOG SVM is slow but is certainly good detection rate. Therefore, in this
paper we have made using Cascade HOG candidates for high speed and good detection rate and
verified with the ChnFtrs the candidates. And the PCA was used to reduce the time cost when
verifying. Experimental results were the advantage in speed and detection rate using a Cascade
HOG and were able to reduce the erroneous detection using ChnFtrs. it could also be reduced
effectively even by using a PCA time consumed during verification.
