This paper proposes vehicle detection algorithm that could detect and track a vehicle in front using a camera effectively. In order to detect a vehicle, extract vertical edge components of vehicle and detect a vehicle using mapping table consist of height location with estimated width of vehicle. The advantage of proposed method is like that can calculate movement of relevant target (vehicle) which is detected in previous frame, at the same time, it predicts changing of vehicle location with detection, so it is useful for decision of dangerous situation.
